2012

November 4, 2007

So I just had to creep myself out for Halloween by watching The Lost Book of Nostradomus on the History Channel with Huz. We had never heard of the predicted armageddon/energy shift/cosmic alignment hoopla that is supposedly predicted by the Mayan calendar for the Winter Solstice of 2012. The Halloween witch in me cackled with glee at the spooky prospect. I wore my fabulously fabulous feathered green satin hat that was bought at Target but seemed made just for me

fabulous fabulousness

while we ate popcorn and sat entranced throughout the show.

Being a bit of a witch at heart in real life, I am fascinated with this topic of the end/rebirth/whathaveyou of the universe as we (don’t really) know it. I have no religion but I believe in the collective power of our human energy. Each one of us is a force of nature. As we go about our days of work and family and chores and televison, we are each a living, breathing dynamo. It’s easy to forget that our brains and bodies are full of electromagnetic sparks, that our teeth and bones and blood were made from stardust. Each one of our souls is a unique mystery that according to some will survive the exit from our human shells.

So what will this predicted shift bring to us, this movement of the stars from where we came? Upheaval? Peace? Everything? Nothing?

No matter, not really. Skeptics will laugh, mystics will pray, and there’s nothing the rest of us will do but wait and see. Oh, and plan to celebrate the hell out of the solstice on 12/21/12. I’m going out (or entering into something?) with a bang. I’ll certainly be wearing my hat.
